Young German Defeats Dzumhur In Straight Sets

Alexander Zverev impresses at Roland Garros

Young German defeats Dzumhur in straight sets

Zverev aiming to go one better than his quarter-final finish in 2018

Alexander Zverev produced a fine display of clay-court tennis as he beat Damir Dzumhur in straight sets to reach the third round of the French Open. The German, who is seeded fourth, had too much power and consistency for his Bosnian opponent, who was making his first appearance in the second round of a Grand Slam. Zverev won 6-2 6-4 6-4 and will play Karen Khachanov of Russia in the third round.

Zverev is one of the favourites to win the French Open this year and his performance against Dzumhur suggests that he is in good form. The 21-year-old has reached the quarter-finals of the last two Grand Slams and will be hoping to go one better in Paris.

Zverev struggled with some of the questions put to him in English by reporters after the match, as he could not understand their Yorkshire accents.
