Mandisa Lynn Hundley, known professionally as Mandisa, passed away on Thursday, April 18, 2024, at her home in Nashville, Tennessee. She was 47 years old. The cause of death has not yet been released.
Born and raised in California, Mandisa first came to national attention when she appeared on the fifth season of American Idol. Despite finishing in ninth place, she quickly became a favorite among viewers and judges alike.
After her time on American Idol, Mandisa went on to release five studio albums, including "Overcomer" (2013) and "What If We Were Real" (2011). Her music garnered critical acclaim and commercial success, earning her numerous awards, including a GRAMMY Award for Best Contemporary Christian Music Album.
In addition to her music career, Mandisa was also a passionate advocate for social justice and a role model for young people. She was known for her kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith.
Mandisa is survived by her husband, David T. Glover, and their two children.
