The Blind Side (2009): Cast and Crew
Overview
The Blind Side is a 2009 American sports drama film written and directed by John Lee Hancock, based on the 2006 book of the same name by Michael Lewis. The film stars Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Tuohy, a wealthy white woman who adopts a homeless black teenager, Michael Oher (played by Quinton Aaron), and helps him become a successful American football player.
Hugh Freeze, the current head coach of the Auburn Tigers, did not play himself in The Blind Side. However, the football coach character in the film, Burt Cotton, is based on Freeze. In the book The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game, Lewis describes how Freeze, then the head coach at Briarcrest Christian School in Memphis, Tennessee, played a key role in Oher's development as a football player.
