Manchester City have booked their place in the semi-finals of the Champions League after a hard-fought victory over Atletico Madrid. The English champions overcame the resilient Spaniards 1-0 in the second leg of their quarter-final tie, securing a 1-0 aggregate victory.
The only goal of the game came in the 70th minute, when Kevin De Bruyne's cross found Phil Foden at the back post. The England international made no mistake from close range, giving City a crucial away goal.
Atletico Madrid pushed hard for an equalizer in the remaining minutes, but City held firm to secure their place in the last four. It was a hard-fought victory for Guardiola's men, who had to withstand intense pressure from their opponents.
Wednesday's second leg in Madrid was the 100th that Manchester City have played in the Champions League. The Citizens have now reached the semi-finals of the competition for the third time in four years.
City will now face Real Madrid in the semi-finals. The first leg will be played at the Etihad Stadium on Tuesday, April 26, with the second leg taking place at the Bernabeu on Wednesday, May 4.
